Man, just look at that title. How terrifying is this going to be? Well, we don’t want to spoil anything, so here’s Panty Explosion, a game that is verifiably about Japanese schoolgirls, and some of them are psychic sometimes!

As an ex-weeaboo I have to say, Ryu does say “tatsu maki senpuu kyaku” but the final vowels of almost all those words are silent, so it sounds more like “tats- mak- senpuu kyak-“. Also, it’s kya not kiya. Sorry.
I never thought I’d say this, but I think I’d rather play this concept in FATE.
If this game really did come out in 2006, then it was way ahead of the hippy story-telling-game curve.
It’s a shame that such a fantastic name has been wasted. Truly tragic.
I find it odd that the “popular/unpopular girl” and “besties/rivals” mechanics are completely separate from each other. You can have one character be the unpopular one, but at the same time have every other character in the group be best friends with her.
As someone who spent a lot of time in school being unpopular I can say with certainty that it does not limit your friend group to being close and great in number.
This sounds like it would be a good set of alternate rules for The Mountain Witch.
